Interracial Couple

So here we have the last cover.
Interracial Couple 3-01

As I was making these covers, I noticed the black female/white male is quite popular in terms of cover art… and possibly even writings. In fact, when I did a search on interracial erotica, I noticed most of the covers were this combination. What I find odd about it, is growing up, I mostly saw black men/white or Asian women combinations, when it came to interracial couples. So it makes me wonder… are there more black female/white male couples out there than black men/white women couples? Is that why the genre seems more popular when doing a simple search? What says you?

I’ve been playing with these covers on and off for quite a while. Like the last set (elemental covers), I’d considered and did use different models. Then I asked myself why I’d want to use different models. Typically, when I write Reena Jacobs (at least when I wrote in the past), I tend to use the same characters over and over. It’s just fun building a world. So, I switched the models to just one couple. Here we have it… the first design.

Last but not least… 🙂 Well… something has to come last.

Erotic Arch Part 3-01

I’m not sure if I like this cover better than the first or not. It’s really a toss up for me. Whereas the first one the gal seemed more vulnerable, this one she’s bold. She’s the aggressor, and I like it. Yet the guy seems just as assertive, meeting her part way. Yum!

More skin, I say! More skin!

Erotic Arch Part 2-01

I have to say… I rather like the previous cover better though. I think there’s something about the pose that makes it more intimate… vulnerable, yet trusting. This one is nice also though. To me, it’s a bit move loving… tender and consoling. What do you think?

This time around, I asked myself how much it too much? You see… a cover can shout out erotica without being too revealing. Well, I was in the revealing mode… as you can see.

Erotic Arch Part 1-01

Thing is… I wonder if there’s too much flesh showing for those resellers (Amazon, CreateSpace, Smashwords, Barnes & Nobles, etc). Just how much flesh do they allow on the covers? Hmmm. Despite the amount of skin, I will say I did take the time to cover up her nipple with a well-placed hand. 🙂

So that fix I mentioned a couple of days ago. Like I said, I tend to gravitate toward covers that have an entire scene that wraps around from front to back. Because of the way I wanted the heads to be placed, I didn’t have that luxury unless I didn’t mind a funky look. This time around, I decided to add the bar down the spine, as you see below.

I am me wraparound-01

This allowed me to split up the cover a bit, while keeping the theme going on the front and back. I rather like it. I can see myself doing other books using this technique.

So, I had this great idea for a wraparound cover. Or rather, I thought it was a great idea. But as we know, pretty much everything has been said and done. It’s more of a matter of putting your own flare to the old to make something new. So… my grand idea was something on the lines of a mirror image of a headshot. In the eBook Cover below, you get the idea.

I Am Me eBook-01

I struggled with getting the right part of the heads in the wraparound cover. I didn’t want the entire back of the heads in the cover… just the amount you see here. However, I really like the covers that have an entire scene that encompasses the entire cover (Front and Back). Unfortunately, it looked kind of funny having a portion of the head cover the spine and wraparound to the back… what to do? what to do?

Well, I’ll show you my fix around in the next couple of days. So stay tuned for my next post!
