So, I had this great idea for a wraparound cover. Or rather, I thought it was a great idea. But as we know, pretty much everything has been said and done. It’s more of a matter of putting your own flare to the old to make something new. So… my grand idea was something on the lines of a mirror image of a headshot. In the eBook Cover below, you get the idea.

I Am Me eBook-01

I struggled with getting the right part of the heads in the wraparound cover. I didn’t want the entire back of the heads in the cover… just the amount you see here. However, I really like the covers that have an entire scene that encompasses the entire cover (Front and Back). Unfortunately, it looked kind of funny having a portion of the head cover the spine and wraparound to the back… what to do? what to do?

Well, I’ll show you my fix around in the next couple of days. So stay tuned for my next post!

It’s been awhile since I did a straight eBook cover. However, I was in the mood for something a bit different. I wanted to try something a little different than what I’ve done in the past. I’ve done trilogy type covers, but never one that all fits together.

For these next three covers, we’re going to get our sexy on. 🙂

ChickLit Pier Cover

ChickLit Pier Cover

I’ve been playing a bit with shading these days. In my mind, the shaded fills work pretty well for Chicklit. In the future, I might try my hands on some children’s covers. For now, it’s ChickLit city. Below you’ll find the original render before did a bit of photoshopping.

Presentism Book 3

Presentism Book 3Welcome to the conclusion of the Presentism series. In the prior covers, I’ve get the model’s face rather hidden. I debated if I even wanted to show her face. In the end, I decided a reveal would be nice and bring all three covers together. So there we have it. Check out book 1 and book 2.

Presentism Book 2

Presentism Book 2And the trilogy continues. Hopefully, I’m keeping the same feel. I wanted her dress to have a bit more personality this time around. When I envision trilogies, I think of the main character developing a stronger personality. Here I tried to portray it in her wardrobe. If you didn’t see the first cover in this trilogy, have a look. I have no idea what this gal is doing in the cover art, but I guess that’s not for me to figure out. I’ll just leave it up to the author to give this cover a story.

Presentism Book 1

Presentism Book 1It seems like everyone and their mothers are doing trilogies these days. So, for the next couple of weeks, I’m going to work on a trilogy set. Since I’m rather fond of New Adult books, I’m going to try a set that has a bit of a futuristic tone. Not too far off into the future, but rather a future where we start to experience a different type of architecture in some of the newer cities that’ll crop up. So! Here goes.

Magical

Magical

I’ve wanted to use the model above for quite some time. I just hadn’t figured out what I wanted to do with it. Then I saw John Carter. Don’t ask me what the smoke has to do with John Carter. Nothing really. Well, nothing at all. Still, John Carter gave me the inspiration for this cover. By the way, if you haven’t checked out the movie, do so. It was quite interesting.

chicklit cover better days

ChickLit Better Days

I don’t know why I’ve been interested in ChickLit covers lately, but I am. I think it’s the cartoony look I’m finding with them. As many may know, I can barely draw stick figures, so sketching out a design doesn’t work all too well for me. However, I’m learning more and more about Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, which is allowing me to be a little more creative with my work.

One way I’ve gotten around my poor drawing skills is through the use of DAZ 3D. What I’ve done this time is designed my picture in Daz 3D then applied some effect techniques to strip out the color and turn it into a line drawing. From there, I reintroduced the colors, which made my artwork look less realistic and more like a pencil drawing. At least, I think so. 😉 So here you have it.
